Men’s Bowls

23 October, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Firstly a big thank you to Brian and Narelle Webb of Thornberry Printing, who are past residents of Canowindra and to Bob Bowd for organising the signs for the bus while he was holidaying with Brian and Narelle.

There were great games of bowls on Saturday in the Zone 4 Senior Fours playoffs, with a full green of bowlers, both in the men’s and women section.

On the local scene, there was a Minor Fours game in which Michael, Graham, Crock and Jamie G went to an early lead, scoring shots on 13 of the first 16 ends.

Brad, Sparky, Greg C and Barry B fought back on the last 4 ends, but were unable to bridge the gap, with the final score 21/17.

On Sunday there was a Major Fours match. It was a close game with Brent, Phil,Tot and Clinka going to a Minnie break in the middle of the game which secured a win for them in the end 19/15.

This weekend we see the other semi-final being played on Saturday at 12pm – Teddy, Barney, Brad and Marc versus Crowey Ben, Tony and Greg C. This will be an exciting match, not to be missed. On Sunday there will be a Consistency match between Ben and Crock with Dool marking the game. This will be a close match with the winner going into the final.

On Melbourne Cup Day club will be open at 10am and we have a platters and punt theme for the day. Platters wil be available after 1pm.

Mixed pairs for Wednesday evening bowls competition is on the notice board.

The club are seeking new casual bar staff, please email resume to canowindrabowlsclub@bigpond.com.
