NSW CHS Athletics

25 September, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra High School girls came third in the State at the CHS squash championships in Newcastle last week. The girls played extremely well against Merewether High School in the bronze medal match to secure the win. Congratulations to Elsey Watson, Lillian Harrison, Scout Stacey and Emily Thomas on your amazing achievement!

During week eight of this term, Canowindra High School had three students represent the Western Area at the NSW CHS Athletics Championships held at Homebush in Sydney. Congratulations must go to Emily Thomas, Lillian Harrison and Hayley Hampton for their achievements on the track and in the field.

Emily has attended these championships for many years, her school sports ended with a successful performance in the Open Girl’s Discus. Emily threw a 30.91m finishing 6th and narrowly missing the podium by less than a metre.

Lillian Harrison has had a big few weeks of representitive sport, competing in cricket, squash and track. Lillian competed in the 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m finishing top 15 in all events.

If there was an award for commitment, Hayley Hampton would receive it. Hayley has been working extremely hard on her high jump at lunch times leading up to the state carnival and should be proud of her top 20 finish.

Emily Thomas, Lillian Harrison and Hayley Hampton recently competed at CHS Athletics.
