Men’s Bowls

25 September, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

There was only one competition game last weekend, and it was a a ripper! New bowler Greg Chester, with a significant handicap, held onto a lead to defeat the experienced David Crowe. David had opportunities to reduce the handicap, but Greg was able to draw in with a counter bowl to reduce David’s advantage. David gave it a great effort to narrow down the 35 shot advantage, and Greg held his nerve to draw some great shots to have a great win. The final score was 153/141.

There will only be one game this weekend due to the show on Saturday, availability of players on Sunday and players already scheduled to play. Peter Taylor and Jamie Stewart will play Mathew Lawrence and Jamie Grant at 1pm Sunday. For those want ing a game, we have social bowls at 1pm.

Congratulations to the organisers and members for a great tipping party on Sunday. A excellent spread was available for the members of footy tipping group.

Members badge draws this week are Wednesday $150, Friday $800 and Sunday $200.

We have few members who have not yet renewed membership and the AGM is coming up on 13th October at 1pm.

There was a great turnout for Thursday afternoon bowls, so come along on Thursday at 2pm, and remember the Jackpot is growing. Hopefully will be able to get more competition games next week. Mixed pairs is coming soon and it is a Wednesday evening competition along with daylight hours.

Twilight bowls is also not far away, after the long weekend.

Hopefully we can have special screening of the grand final on the long weekend.
