National Commemorative Service: 25th Anniversary Of Australian Service In Ti­mor-Leste: A national commemorative ser­vice will be held in Canberra on Friday 20th September, recognising the 25th anniver­sary of Australian service in Timor-Leste.

Australia’s deployment of troops to East Timor in 1999 was the largest since the Vi­etnam War. This anniversary provides the opportunity to honour and remember these Australians and remember the six Austral­ians who lost their lives whilst deployed, or as a result of their service, in Timor-Leste.

Spring Dance Canowindra: The next Canowindra New Vogue & Social Dance Group dance on Sunday 15th Septem­ber will celebrate Spring. It will be at the Canowindra Services Club at 2pm to 6pm.

Come along in Spring colours to have fun on the dance floor or just observe the danc­ers and enjoy the live music by Barry Whitty

They welcome people from anywhere in NSW and beyond. To attend it’s Just $10 for dancers and free for non dancers including free tea coffee and special treats for after­noon tea. For further information about the dance or lessons, phone Gail Davis on 0417 747 338.

Do You Want To Build A Scarecrow? Gather up your recycled materials and enter the Scarecrow Competition at the Canowindra Show for a chance to win Best Junior and Grand Champion titles. Bring your scarecrows to the Showground from Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th September.

Be sure to have your name visible some­where on the scarecrow.

CHS Students Success At Forbes Show: Last Friday 6th September, ten students from Canowindra High School travelled to the Forbes Show to participate in the jun­ior judging competition, hosted by Forbes Show Society. The categories were: meat sheep, meat merino sheep, merino wool classing, grains, fruit and vegetables. The students also participated in the dairy cat­tle judging. The students had success on the day, most notably: Megan first place judging in fruit and vegetables, and Hayley, Olivia, Thomas and Tommy all receiving encouragement ribbons. All Canowindra students made the top 10, congratulations!

The CHS students had a great time at the Forbes Show.
