Arts OutWest is quite literally putting the work of artists on pedestals with a new touring exhibition program.Illustrated works by Canowindra artist Heather Vallance are on show daily until Friday 27th September at Canowindra Visitor Information Centre at the Age of Fishes Museum.
Arts OutWest’s Plinth Show shows work of a different artist, with their work displayed on portable plinths, at a different visitor information centre around the Central West each month for 12 months.
“The exhibition program is designed to highlight arts as a cultural attraction to visitors whilst making a new exhibition opportunity for a local artist,“ said curator, Arts OutWest’s Steven Cavanagh.
Heather Vallance is based in Canowindra NSW. The fold out books on display on the plinths are portable visual diaries made during travelling. Heather sits and draws the world around her.
“It’s also a great way to meet and connect with the local people who come and chat while I am drawing.”
The Plinth Show program has so far been to Forbes showing Wiradjuri artist Ronda Sharpe, and Grenfell showing paintings by Diane Donohue. There will be work by orange artist Jac Davis at Orange City Library in September.
The Museum is open 10am to 4pm Monday and Thursday to Sunday. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
