Men’s Bowls

14 August, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Several great games of bowls were played last weekend. David Crow with relative new bowlers, Jamie Stewart and Mitch McAllister won their semi-final against Harry Webb, Jack Webb and Cristy Sullivan. The match was extremely close and could have gone either way.

In the other semi-final Phil, Brent Lees and Brad Bourke went to an early lead and maintained their form throughout the game to win in a strong performance against Roger Traves, Tony Tuimauga and Ben Rooke. The final will hopefully be played in two weeks on Sunday 25th August.

In the O’Brien Cup, Brian and Jenny McClintock defeated Greg Chester and Barry Bourke in a close match by a single shot.

On Sunday Greg Chester played great draw bowls to defeat Mathew Lawrence 150/125. Mathew caught up the handicap in the nineties only for Greg to pull away and win. In O’Brien Cup the specialists Brad Bourke and Mark Wright defeated Roger Traves and Eryn Traves-Kinsela in solid performance 27/20.

There will be no competition matches this weekend, so we are having a social afternoon. There will be vouchers for the winners and a 1pm start. The four’s competition nominations open soon.

There are a number of caps and clothing at the club please collect before Sunday 18th August, or the items will go to Vinnies.
