Gleniss has been selected as one of three International Technical Officials at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.i
Canowindra local, Gleniss Lawrence, is off to Paris for her third consecutive Olympic Games as one of only three International Technical Officials chosen to officiate the Shooting competitions.
Of her appointment, Gleniss says “It is an honour and a privilege to be chosen by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) to be one of three International Technical Officials at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. This will be my third Olympics as an International Technical Official, after holding this position at the Rio and Tokyo Olympics.”
Gleniss will have the responsibility of ensuring that the ISSF rules are up-held and competition is fair and honest, and performance outcomes are not affected by illegitimate enhancements or external interests.
Gleniss says, “As a Technical Official my main role and responsibility is to ensure no one has an unfair advantage over another.
Integrity and respect is upheld, all whilst problem solving and dealing with any conflict resolution.
“I believe it is always fairness for all and no one [athlete] has an unfair advantage over another. This is what I uphold, as it should be in sport.”
Prior to becoming an international ISSF Referee and Judge, Gleniss represented Australia as an athlete as part of the Australian Shooting Team, volunteered at events including the Sydney Olympic Games and was a Manager/Coach of the Australian Team.
Gleniss is also an ISSF Referee and Judge Instructor where she provides education and mentorship to those coming through the officiating pathways.
