Canowindra’s Baroquefest, now in its tenth year, is a three day festival of largely baroque music.
Following last year’s sold-out festival with Madeleine Easton’s wonderful Bach Akademie Australia, this year over the weekend 27th to 29th September, The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra will perform five concerts at four venues in and around Canowindra.
All Saints Church, with its vaulted gothic timber ceiling is a favourite of musicians and ensembles who have been coming to play there since David Miller AM, of Sydney Conservatorium discovered it twenty five years ago. Other venues full of character are the recently refurbished Billimari and Gooloogong village halls with air conditioning, tiled bathrooms and kitchens befitting a hatted restaurant.
The closing Sunday evening concert, already sold out is at Rosnay Organic Wines cellar door.
With a total of seventeen visiting musicians, the five programs with different combinations of period instruments and voices will include works by Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Handel, Telemann, Corelli, Brescianello, Bach and Biber. Depending on the time of day, three of the concerts include a CWA crafted morning tea, gourmet picnic lunch or dinner.

Book early as this year’s Baroquefest is sure to be another sellout! In late September the surreal golden flowering canola fields surrounding Canowindra will be a bonus for visitors to the region.
