Sun Shines On Canowindra Ladies Bowlers For Successful President’s Day

29 May, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra Ladies Bowls Club hosted teams from Cowra, Orange Ex-Services Club, Manildra and Parkes.

The Canowindra Ladies Bowls Club welcomed teams from Cowra, Orange Ex-Services Club, Manildra and Parkes to celebrate President’s Day on Tuesday, 28th May.

Annually, each Bowling Club holds a President’s Day, with 10 being held in total. On President’s Day, the ladies travel to each Club in their district to play bowls, raise money for charity, enjoy a delicious lunch, win great prizes and basically enjoy a day spent with friends.

The win this year went to the team from Parkes Ladies Bowls of Kay Craft, Lee Orr and Marja Iffland with the Canowindra Ladies Bowls team consisting of Liz Thorn bury, Nancy Morrow and Christie Sullivan coming in runners-up.

There are 30 members of the Canowindra Ladies Bowls Club and the members range in age from late 30’s right through to late 90’s. New members are always welcome and age is no barrier.

A big happy birthday to the amazing Jenny Middleton. Jenny is involved in so many aspects of Canowindra including the Progress Association and President of the Ladies Bowls, being just two of the many. Happy Birthday!

There was plenty of action out on the green.

President’s Day is about spending time with friends from other Clubs.

Canowindra Ladies Bowls team of Liz Thornbury, Nancy Morrow and Christie Sullivan were runners-up on the day to Parkes.
