CHS students had a great time in Wollongong last week.
Trip To Wollongong For Local Students: On Monday and Tuesday last week, 18 year 12 students from Canowindra High School attended the annual University of Wollongong Discovery Days program. Students were able to attend practical classes as well as lectures on International Studies, Exercise Science, Geography, Ancient History, Biology, and still had time to investigate the cafes, bars, and shops dotted around the campus. All reports were that it was an excellent couple of days, and there was even a little time to catch up with some former students attending the university for their undergraduate studies.
Cryptosporidiosis Alert For NSW: After a steep recent increase in cryptosporidiosis cases across the state, NSW Health is advising the community not to swim for at least two weeks after they’ve had diarrhoea. Executive Director, Health Protection NSW, Dr Jeremy McAnulty said there had been 498 cases of cryptosporidiosis reported in NSW so far in 2024, compared to the 5-year average of 95 cases for the same time period. Cryptosporidiosis is a diarrhoeal disease caused by the parasite, Cryptosporidium, which infects the intestine and is a common cause of acute diarrhoea in young children. Other symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, fever, headache, and loss of appetite.
NSW Heritage Strategy: The NSW Government is developing a Heritage Strategy to assist in protecting heritage in NSW and is seeking feedback to build an understanding of what is important to the community, key challenges and opportunities. Calling All Farmers: All farming landholders are invited to attend a community meeting with the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge committee will be held on Friday 22nd March at 6.30pm at the Canowindra Services Club. This will be an opportunity to ask questions, be informed about flight planning, weather amongst other items, and also participate in the 2024 event. Drinks and nibbles provided.
