Canowindra Public School welcomed 22 eager Kindergarten students on Monday for the 2024 school year.
It was all smiles last week as the start of a new school year began in Canowindra.
It’s been a very exciting start to the school year at St Edwards with twenty new students commencing in 2024. Fifteen of these being members of Mrs Breen’s Kindergarten class. St Eddies also welcomed a new teacher for the 5/6 class, Miss Phoebe Chadwick to the teaching staff.
“It has been evident that the transition program our students participated in throughout 2023 has given them a wonderful head start to primary school,” said Principal Ken McNamara.
The wait was finally over on Monday morning for the new Kindergarten students at Canowindra Public School. Twenty two eager students arrived at the school for the start of their education.
Principal Sharon Hawker said, “Thank you to Canowindra Preschool for all the wonderful work they do in preparing the children for ‘big school’. Our transition programs such as Kinderbonce and Kinder Orientation have also provided a strong foundation for our new Kinders, which sets them up for success at the beginning of their learning journey.”
Canowindra Public School also welcomed several new teachers in 2024, including Pheobe Smith from Calare Public School in Orange to teach 4/5. Welcome also to new part-time teachers Hayley Amos, Kathy Wright and Jade O’Malley.
This year’s Canowindra High School incoming Year 7 group consists of a massive 45 new students eager to begin their high school experience, under the guidance of their year advisor Kathy Davis.
