The dynamic duo of modern Australian bush poetry, Melanie Hall and Susan Carcary, are heading to Canowindra.
It’s going to be a huge first four months of the year for Canowindra with two major events set to take place.
The 24th February, will see the Banjo Paterson Festival come alive, with Canowindra playing host to a fun filled night of bush comedy, great entertainment and excellent food.
Hosted at the Canowindra Services Club, this jam packed night of entertainment, with Australian Champion Bush Poets – Mel Hall and Susie Carcay – will see a two course sit down dinner being served, commencing at 6:30pm.
Then from the 20th-28th April, we have a jam packed week of entertainment when the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge comes around once again.
Opening this years’ event on the 20th April, will be the inaugural “Welcome To Canowindra Street Party” brought to you by The Canowindra Progress Association, Cabonne Council and The Newmont Orange360 Tourism Event Fund.
This street party is an opportunity for the community to welcome the very talented balloonists and their teams to our beautiful town, along with the wonderful visitors that come to our region for the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge.
Apart from Gaskill Street coming alive to music from the Neil Gill Band, the main feature of the street party will be around the BBQ! A special event for all you BBQ magicians out there.
Register now to enter “Canowindra BBQ Masters”. This will be a BBQing competition, held on Gaskill Street where a special guest chef will come and judge just how good your skills are. This event is sure to have a great atmosphere with fantastic prizes up for grabs! Gaskill Street will close from 3pm and the “Welcome To Canowindra Street Party” will commence from 5pm.
In addition to the wonderful balloon activities that are scheduled for the week including the ever entertaining Key Grab, other fantastic events on the calendar for the week will include movie nights, open gardens, an author luncheon, activities for the kids, a trivia night, art talks, walking tours, drone workshops, a psychic evening, an outdoor musical spectacular with the world’s number one Abba band – Bjorn Again on Friday night, the colourful street parade and then the Palms Markets on Saturday and at 3pm the gates will open to the highly anticipated Cabonne Community Glow, which promises to be best event of the year! This year the hours of the Cabonne Community Glow will extend through to 10pm.
