Schools Spectacular Tour 2023: Canowindra High School students have been invited to attend a tour of Sydney as part of the School Spectacular 2023. Students will be performing in a flash mob as part of Spec Fest, a free festival designed to celebrate School Spectacular. For the last week, students have been learning the eight sections of their dance.
Anniversary Of 2022 Floods: Last Tuesday, 14th November marked 12-months from the devastating floods that hit the towns of Canowindra, Cudal, Eugowra, Manildra, and Molong. A Reflection Service was be held in Eugowra to mark the first anniversary. Cabonne Council sum it up perfectly with these words: Anyone who had ever visited Cabonne before the floods would know how special it is. But it is not the natural beauty that makes Cabonne so special. It is not the towns or the buildings. It is the people. And those people are still here. Albeit – a little wounded, a little scarred. But we are still here. We know there is more to do, but just wanted to thank everyone who has helped our communities get to this point.
eDNA Monitoring In The Lachlan River: Mid-Lachlan Landcare has secured eDNA test kits for the Lachlan River and will be conducting monitoring next week as part of the Odonata Foundation’s ‘Great Aussie Wildlife Search’ project. The ‘e’ stands for ‘environmental’ and is a new technology that helps us identify where threatened species live by picking up traces of their DNA in water samples from across the catchment. We’re excited to try this new technology and are hopeful that we can integrate it into some of our other core projects over time.
