Christmas Carols returning to Canowindra on 9th December at Memorial Park.
On the third Monday of each month, The Canowindra Progress Association meets and invites the community along to join in. The last meeting held on the 16th October, was well attended by the community and as part of the meeting, a range of exciting events that are coming up for Canowindra were spoken about and details of each were given. Tom Beath, who is President of the Canowindra Progress Association together with Kathy Davis and Debra Clarke were present to kick off the meeting, which started at 6pm.
Amongst the excitement of these events, Christmas Carols returning to Canowindra on the 9th December was a highlight of the meeting.
The UHA together with Councillor Weaver, have worked hard to get this event running and with help from Council to use Memorial Park, other major milestones have been reached including the candles being purchased, the music, food and ice blocks have been arranged – the event is sure to be a cracking night. Special thanks go to the Lions Club who will hold a BBQ, the Services Club for lending the PA system, the power being supplied from the historical society and Johnny from IGA who has generously donated the lollies.
The Christmas Shopping Night will be held the 24th November and Gaskill Street will be closed from 4pm. The Palms Markets have been working closely in with the Progress Association and their markets will come up onto the street. Some exciting new decorations will be put up on Gaskill Street for Christmas this year.
The Banjo Patterson Festival’s event in Canowindra being held in February will be one for the community not to miss. A dinner will be held at the Services Club, and two poets reciting will be in attendance on the evening. It will be a great night to celebrate this Australian poet.
The next Canowindra Progress Association meeting will be held November 20th at the Canowindra Services Club from 6pm.
