Book Treasures Found! This weekend some very lucky people found book treasures in Morris Park. A bag with a note attached stated: “Congratulations! You are the lucky finder of this book. I hope you enjoy it. You may choose to read it or pass it on to someone else. Now it’s your turn. You may need an adult to help you. Choose a book that you no longer read, pop it and this note into the plastic bag and seal it up to protect it from the weather. Then the fun begins! Hide your book treasure in a place where other children will find it so they can enjoy a new book to read. If you like, you can take a photo of yourself finding, reading or hiding a book and post it to our Facebook group to help spread the word (that’s where you find out where to look for more books!) Mayor And Deputy Mayor Election 2023: Cabonne Council’s Mayor Kevin Beatty and Deputy Mayor Jamie Jones have been re-elected unopposed at an Ordinary Council meeting held in Molong on Tuesday, 26 September 2023. Their re-election continues an unchanged leadership team for Cabonne Council for the next 12 months, with the next Mayoral election to be held September 2024. Both Mayor Kevin Beatty and Deputy Mayor Jamie Jones are looking forward to working together over the next 12 months.
Always Remembered: Mr Teruo Murakami, the oldest remaining survivor from the Cowra Breakout in 1944 during World War II has passed away on September 14 at his home in Japan aged 103. Mr Murakami was a regular visitor to Cowra with his final visit coming for the 75th anniversary of the Cowra Breakout in 2019. Vale Teruo Murakami.
