Cabonne Council hosted a Good Governance Workshop in Molong last week, for community based organisations to attend. Whilst governance is not always the most interesting of topics, good structures help to ensure that community organisations are able to deliver more impact and be more sustainable and resilient.
For an organisation to run well the committee members need to understand the constitution, compliance, financials, and how to get the best from other people who also give up their time to be on committees.
Well run organisations attract funding, volunteers and community support.
Facilitated by “governance whisperer” Natalie Bramble, the participants learned about key governance topics including constitution, roles and responsibilities, meetings, and agendas, and what to do if things ever go off track.
The training also provided an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with other community organisations including Progress and Section 355 Committees from across Cabonne.
Among the very well attended workshop, two community members from Canowindra improved their governance knowledge, including Kathy Davis who is a very active member on community committees such as the Canowindra Progress Association, Sports Trust, and is involved in many sporting bodies for the town.
Thank you to Cabonne Council for hosting this very important workshop.
