Canowindra played host to a special guest visit from the Governor of NSW on Friday, who was in the Central West to visit Orange, Eugowra, Canowindra, Millthorpe, and Cowra.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr Dennis Wilson whilst in Canowindra, stopped at the Age of Fishes Museum, met with members of the Historical Society and perused the Museum, greeted school children from St Edward’s and Canowindra Public School, and had lunch with members of the Canowindra Branch of the CWA.
The Governor said: “Dennis and I are looking forward to this opportunity to hear from locals and community groups about their achievements and challenges, learn about exciting developments in Agtech innovation and education, and soak up the culture, heritage, and natural beauty so characteristic of this wonderful part of the Central West.”
In Eugowra, the Governor and Mr Wilson met with the Eugowra Flood Recovery Committee and toured areas that were impacted by the 2022 floods.
In Millthorpe, the Governor and Mr Wilson met locals at a Community Afternoon Tea hosted by Blayney Shire Council and attended the Millthorpe Fire Fair, the opening event of the 2023 Winter Fire Festival.
The visit to the region concluded in Cowra, where the Governor attended events commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Cowra Breakout.
