The current Canowindra Public School kindergarten kids are excited to welcome new friends in 2024.
Canowindra Public School is getting ready to welcome Kindergarten students for 2024 and are busy planning for their transition to ‘big’ school. The importance of a positive transition to school is well-recognised and is a significant event in the lives of young people and their families.
Canowindra Public School has established long-standing, effective transition practices that have proven very successful for more than a generation of kindergarten students. Kinderbounce and Kinder Orientation are two components of the transition programs. They are short term and are not a replacement for preschool or childcare, but a program designed to link students, families and early childhood centres with the school to ensure the children are well prepared to take the next step into primary school.
This transition program is developed for children who are five years old before the end of September. This enables a small cohort to experience school early and then when Kinder Orientation begins in term four, there are already students who have experienced ‘school life’.
We have found that Kinderbounce has been a positive experience for students, staff and parents. Kinder Orientation is a transition program held in term four for all students who intend to start school in 2024. This program also runs over four weeks. During transition to school programs children become familiar with the school environment. Parents will also be invited to attend school tours and information sessions in term four.
