Our Gal – Tracy Smith

1 June, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Where were you born? I was born in Canowindra and have lived here all my life.

What do you love about Canowindra? I love the small town feel, that everyone helps one another and that someone is always able to lend a hand if needed.

What are you most proud of? My work ethic. I am working two jobs at the moment and managing my horses and life around that. I find both jobs rewarding in their own way.

What historical moment stands out most to you? The floods of 2022. Even though they were terrible, the support that everyone showed to everyone else was amazing to see. Especially how the Canowindra people banded together to help the people of Eugowra.

What is the best advice you have ever received? “It is better to be judged by 12 of your peers, than to be carried by six of your friends.” It means that it’s better to be alive and to be judged by twelve people on one’s actions than to be dead and carried by six pallbearers because of one’s inaction.

Biggest risk you have ever taken? Breaking in my own horse! Tough but will be rewarding.

What three things would you take to a desert island? Bread, cheese and a horse.

If you had $10,000 what would you spend it on? A new camera. I would love to get back into photography.

When are you happiest? When I am with my horses, and things are going well with them.
