Essential Energy will soon complete maintenance works on the high voltage electricity network that supplies power to Canowindra and surrounding areas.
Operations Manager Macquarie, Jamie Warren, said the area is supplied by a single powerline and can’t be supplied power from an alternate source, so it’s essential the network remains in peak operating condition.
“Ongoing maintenance work is vital to minimise the risk of equipment failure and associated unplanned power outages, and this work will ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the local power supply,” Jamie said.
To enable the works to be completed safely, a planned power outage will be necessary and will affect all homes and businesses in Canowindra, Moorbel, Cargo, Toogong, Murga and surrounding areas.
The outage has been scheduled for Sunday, 7 May 2023, between 8am and 4pm and all affected homes and businesses will receive Essential Energy’s standard outage notification in advance.
“Work will be carried out on the high voltage powerline which supplies the Canowindra zone substation, to replace seven power poles and five pole crossarms, along with other network components which have reached end of life.”
Traffic control measures will be in place around worksites in Canowindra and the public is urged to follow all detours and traffic control signage.
“Significant planning has been undertaken to minimise the inconvenience of the outage on impacted communities” Jamie said.
The scheduled works are reliant on suitable weather conditions and may be postponed if the conditions are unfavourable or any unforeseen circumstances arise.
