Canowindra Progress Association Takes Flight

4 May, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra residents are encouraged to join the newly established Canowindra Progress Association.

Canowindra residents are encouraged to become a part of the newly formed Canowindra Progress Association that is being formed by members of the community to oversee a range of various projects that will forward the advancement of the town.

There have been some questions around what exactly is a Progress Association. The role of the not for profit group is to be a local resident association, owned and run by their members. They often communicate concerns and suggestions to appropriate government departments, the local council amongst other relevant organisations.

To date, there have been a range of items already put forward to the Association that may be able to be actioned under the group, including a dog park, BBQ facilities in Memorial Park, a pump track for kids activities, a new playground, assist with health promotion programs and facilitators and a range of other suggestions.

In other towns around our area, the Progress Association has achieved milestones such as the enhancement of historical buildings and infrastructure, organising community events, supporting local business, charities and organisations and have supported tourism projects.

To become a member, you can pick up a new member form from the Canowindra Phoenix office, located at 84 Gaskill Street, Canowindra, from 15th May on Monday and Tuesdays from 10am – 3pm.
