Our Bloke – Gordon Dillon

30 March, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Gordon Dillon

How long have you lived in Canowindra and what do you love most about it? I have lived here since 1947. I love the hometown feeling, most are friendly but sadly most of my friends have passed away.

What did you do for work? We have been farming since we arrived in Canowindra. I left school and went straight to farming. We had Poll Herefords and trotting horses. There were plenty of both good and bad times. At 87, I am still farming every day.

What are your hobbies? I have always been into sports, everything from cricket, tennis to golf. I’d have a go at anything when I was younger. Also we had trotting horses and spent a lot of time at the trots as a family. We really enjoyed doing it as a family and meeting friends along the way.

If you had $1,000,000 what would you spend it on? My family and helping them out. A million would be nice but I am extremely lucky to live long enough to see my great grandchildren be born and watching my family grow.

Best advice you could give someone? Be honest and appreciate other people.
