Canowindra Tigresses after a long day battling it out at the Western Carnival. They’re hoping to follow it up with a great season.
The Canowindra League Tag girls put on a great performance in their first hit out of the season at the Western Carnival, under new coach Andrew Pull.
The teams expectation going in to the event, was to complete the set and be competitive. Through their tenacious defense and gritty attitude they surprised most spectators on the day by qualifying for the semi-finals.
The semi-final against group 10 Orange Hawks was a nail-biter, with the scores locked at nil all at half-time, fatigue setting in on both sides after a long day. It was late in the second half that Orange Hawks found a hole through the solid Canowindra Tigresses defense and scored the first try.
Shortly after, they posted the second try and were in the lead 10 nil with 3 minutes remaining. The Tigresses threw everything at Hawks in the last 3 minutes, but were unable to break through their line.
The Woodridge Cup season hits off with the ten’s competition to be held in Peak Hill on Saturday, 25th March.
The Canowindra Tigers next hit out will be in the Monaro knockout at Batemans Bay on Friday, 31st March with the competition properly starting on the weekend of 15th April.
