With a menu that would stand out in any café or restaurant in town, it’s the local school canteen that is providing five star meals to the students and staff at Canowindra High School.
Run by a team of paid staff and volunteers of the P&C committee, the canteen is providing healthy, affordable meals for both the high school and primary schools, five days a week.
Proudly using produce collected from the schools own, Stephanie Alexander vegetable garden, and as much local produce from surrounding farms as possible, the canteen is becoming more than just your average tuck-shop, playing a vital role in linking the school back to the community.
The P&C’s professional approach to managing the canteen has been instrumental in its success. Funds raised through the canteen have been used to upgrade the canteen facilities allowing them to provide more items more efficiently. In addition to purchasing uniforms for canteen staff, supporting student excursions and contributions to the end of year award ceremony.
The Canowindra High School P&C would like to thank the parents of the children who support the school by purchasing their lunches and snacks through the canteen.
