On Friday, 24th February Canowindra Swimming CLub held the annual Business House Relay night. There were 32 local businesses that supported the relay, with 17 of these businesses bringing their own teams! The swimming club kids swam on behalf of the other 15 teams. Many local businesses also supported the event with the generous donation of prizes.
There were six heats held, with the six teams closest to their nominated entry time, gaining a place in the final race. The six finalists were Canowindra Services Club, Sam O’Malveny Carpentry, Balloons & More, Cowra Veterinary Centre, Lachlan Valley Building, Central West Saddlery and Cargo Shop. These teams then needed to battle it out to swim the closest to their heat time.
The winning team, consisting of Beth Henry, Grace Payne, Lydia Wythes and Charlotte Peace, representing Balloons & More and the Cowra Veterinary Centre, took out the business house relay. Interestingly, this team was also the closest to their time in the heats. They were closely followed by business teams Central West Saddlery in second and Lachlan Valley Building in third.
