Our Bloke – Tommy Jeffs

8 December, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Tommy Jeffs

How long have you lived in Canowindra? I have been here for nine years.

You have a magnificent Christmas display, what made you decide to also host functions and events? In 2015, a group was stuck for a Christmas lunch venue and called Montrose House to see if I could cater for it.

How many Christmas events do you do per year? I do 15-25 in December and another 15 in July.

Do you have any staff? I do most of it on my own, and hire local girls to serve. I also try to use as much local food as well.

Where did your interest in decorating come from? I have been a David Jones window dresser before. When I first moved to town, I decorated the Foodworks building and had over 1,800 people come over to view the window display.

What do you love most about Christmas at Montrose House? The people, some weekends we have buses arrive from as far as Dubbo, Katoomba and Canberra. People are always in such a good mood, with great company and it is just a really fun time.

Best part of Christmas in Canowindra? Definitely the shopping. Perennialles, Finns and Blue Bowerbird are just a few of my favourites.
