At a time when we are usually looking forward to Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus, we find ourselves surrounded by water and wondering if we should be building an ark! We look around and see the destruction that too much water can bring to roads, businesses and family homes. We struggle with the loss of property and maybe livestock and pets. As I write I am not aware of any loss of life but I am conscious that Eugowra has suffered significant damage.
Let me encourage you with a few verses from the Bible. Genesis 9.13 ‘God said, I have set my rainbow in the clouds and it will be a sign of the covenant that I make that never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.’ Perhaps you ask the question, why doesn’t God stop the rain? I am praying that the rain will ease and that the earth will return to being productive and the people to the work that they enjoy. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a time for every season and that God has made everything beautiful in its time. We look with hope to seeing the beauty rise out of the flood waters.
As you work through the losses and fight to see a new way forward, may you feel the love and compassion of the Lord Jesus who promises that he will never leave or forsake us, that he is for us, not against us and that he has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. You are loved beyond measure. May the Lord bless you with abundant life and goodness.
