Canowindra Public School Fete: Canowindra Public School held their annual school fete on Friday, 4th November.
Due to COVID, this is the first fete since 2019. The school was abuzz with excited students, parents, friends and community members. The school’s P&C and CPC staff worked tirelessly to make the event a huge success, this event being one of the biggest fundraisers of the year. Volunteers from SES, Police, Fire brigade, NRL, Age of Fishes and Alikinetic Dance group added to the great excitement of the day. The afternoon ended with Mrs Hawker and Mrs Swords being great sports and having buckets of slime poured over their heads!

Remembrance Day: Canowindra RSL sub-branch in conjunction with Canowindra High School will be holding a small commemoration for Remembrance Day at Memorial Park on Friday, 11th November, commencing at 10:30am. There will be an opportunity for the public to lay a wreath during service.
SES: Last weeks major flooding raised the concern that there are not nearly enough volunteers to help during these events. While we are very thankful for those that already volunteer and local community members that came to sandbag, it’s clear more active members are needed. SES is a vital part of every community, more so in a small community where access to major services are in larger towns. There is something for everyone in the SES, from working in the control room, assisting with training and working out in the field during events. Come along and see what SES is about. Food Basket: With the cost of living rising, eligible Canowindra locals are invited to visit our local food basket. Canowindra Food Basket runs each Friday from 9.30 to 12pm at the Uniting Church Hall. Food Basket is for everyone on a pension or health care card. If you don’t have either of those a referral from a minister or health provider can suffice. If you would like to volunteer your time, please come along and meet the committee. Food Basket also accepts donations of excess eggs, vegetables and produce you may have grown.
