Jenny Middleton and Sandy MacDonald receiving their Merit Awards at the Women’s President Day.
On Tuesday, 25th October the Canowindra Women’s Bowling Club held their President’s Day with President Jennifer Middleton in the chair.
Jenny welcomed the Central West District President, Trish Wilson (from Orange), President of the Canowindra Community Bowls & Recreation Club, Roger Traves and Board Members Peter Taylor and Westy Wyburn. Green keeper for the day was Harry Webb.
Apologies were received from Jan Waugh from Forbes who is the CWD Match Chairperson and Shirley Robson.
Teams represented were Cowra, Parkes, Orange City, Orange Ex Services Club and Manildra.
The rain held off for the morning game of bowls which was a fun filled event. Bowling with our other arm, bowling between our legs and changing positions kept the bowlers laughing all morning.
The Canowindra WBC team consisted of Joice McNaught, Dianne Mooney and Jennifer Middleton. They played the CWD team of Betty Jenkins, Elaine Connor and Trish Wilson.
The winners on the day were the team from Cowra.
A delicious meal was served by the Canowindra WBC social committee and was justly received. We thank the committee for their hard work on the day.
Prizes went to Karen Rodwell from Manildra for the first prize in the raffle and second prize to our own Libby Balcombe.
The best hat award went to Maree Haigh-Cole from Orange City, with 2nd place going to our member Joyce Boland.
The special award of a Ram Badge was given by President Jennifer to Sandra McDonald for her work with our club over many years, much of it in the kitchen!
Well done Sandy and congratulations. This is a special district award given to club Presidents to present to special members for their dedication to their club.
A wonderful day was had by all present and Jenny would like to thank all members for their help in making her President’s Day such a success.
