Josh Messina from Kurunga Kelpies is looking forward to hosting Canowindra’s Yard Dog Trials on November 5th.
On Saturday, 5th November Canowindra Showground will host the first Yard Dog Trial in over 15 years.
Josh Messina from Kurunga Kelpies will be organising the event and expects approximately 80 to 100 entrants on the day.
Josh’s enthusiasm for the sport developed after watching the yard dog trials at Mudgee field days as a 10 year old.
“I find it amazing, the connection a person can develop with a working dog. The day my parents brought me my first working dog, I instantly developed a passion for the sport and have been competing ever since. I now have my own working kelpie stud, Kurunga Kelpies,” Josh said.
Josh encourages local working dog owners to register for the event, with several sections available on the day. The cost for each class will vary depending on the grade.
A judges’ talk will commence at 7am for maiden, novice and open categories.
The local and encourage categories will start at approximately lunch time.
