Creating Futures – Education Changes Lives

28 July, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

This year’s theme for NSW Education Week is ‘creating futures – education changes lives’ and celebrates the quality education provided and the opportunities available to everyone in the NSW public education system and will be held from 1-5 August 2022.

Canowindra Public School (CPS) have a few busy weeks of activities planned this year for Education Week. On Monday August 1st, Years 3-6 will be watching a Tony Bones performance in the hall about the CBCA shortlisted book The Imaginer.

An Open Day and Colour Fun Run will be held on Tuesday 9th August at 12pm. Parents, relatives and neighbours are all encouraged to come and see the wonderful classrooms and the work the students have done throughout the year. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle at 1pm before the P&C Colour Fun Run starts at 2pm.

Kinderbounce, a pre-transition program is available for children who are 5 or turn 5 before September 30th 2022, but aren’t yet attending primary school. They will be able to join the CPS Kindergarten class every Monday for 4 weeks from 1.50-3pm (1st, 8th, 15th and 29th August). All prospective Kinder 2023 students will be able to attend the official transition program in Term 4.

Canowindra High School (CHS) is very proud to be part of the Canowindra community and to share in the provision of public education for the children and young adults of the town and district.

As a small school CHS pride themselves on the ability to provide not only a diverse and interesting curriculum but also extensive sporting, cultural and social avenues for students to involve themselves. This year’s theme for Education Week “Creating futures – education changes lives” is particularly apt for CHS as they have a long history whereby students successfully find their way in life irrespective of the career pathway they choose.

All students, both past and present, are always presented with a myriad of opportunities and experiences and it is through these that every student, every day can develop the skills they need in the world beyond the school gate. Canowindra High School is a public high school and are honoured to represent the community in this role.

At Gooloogong Public School (GPS) they strive to empower all students to acquire, demonstrate, articulate and value knowledge and skills that will support them as life-long learners.

The aim is for students to participate in and contribute to the global world, whilst practising the core values of the school: respectful, responsible and resilient. GPS hold high expectations of all students through differentiated instruction, individualised feedback and the provision of meaningful classroom experiences in close partnership with parents.

Be sure to follow the school Facebook page to keep up-to-date with celebrations during Education Week.
