The Canowindra CWA Branch together with Tommy Jeffs hosted ‘A Biggest Morning Tea’ at Montrose House, with all donations raised going directly to the Cancer Council.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that is organised by the Cancer Council each year, to raise vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer. 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85, and involvement in initiatives such as this, assists in moving toward the goal to reaching a cancer free future.
This year, together with the community and the organisers, Canowindra’s Biggest Morning Tea raised $850.
“We are so proud of the people of Canowindra who came along on the day and supported such a worthwhile cause,” said Jan Kerr, Secretary of the Canowindra CWA Branch.
“The Canowindra CWA Branch, is very grateful to Tommy Jeffs for opening Montrose House and providing the wonderful hospitality.”
Tommy Jeffs was also ecstatic by the turn out on the morning, and the community spirit shown. “The number of visitors and the donations that were received for the Biggest Morning Tea was outstanding.”

Along with the Biggest Morning Tea, this week also sees the Canowindra CWA Branch celebrating their 98th birthday. The role in which the CWA plays is one of friendship and also service to worthwhile causes for our local community.
