The Canowindra Lions Club has had a busy start to 2022 recently awarding local resident and Nursing Unit Manager of Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital Tara Bushell a scholarship through The Lions Nurses Scholarship Foundation.
The scholarship course that Tara will undertake is focussed on Remote Emergency Care. The course will consist of two full days of face to face learning that will take place in Darwin and also a number of online modules.
The course that Tara will complete is aimed at nurses, paramedics and doctors who work in rural and remote areas. It is targeted at smaller regional areas who have limited doctors, so if there is an emergency outside the normal scope of emergency care for a nurse, Tara will be able to provide the right care at the time as needed.
Tara would like to thank the Lions Club for making this possible and would like to make sure that other people are aware of the opportunities that are out there through the Lions Club.
Last Saturday at the Canowindra Fitness Path 84kms was walked at Lap the Map to raise money for the Diabetes Research Foundation of Australia. A total of $560 was raised in donations on the day. Canowindra and Cargo-Cudal Lions Club would like to thank the Cowra and Canowindra Junior Cricket teams for taking part in a few laps of the fitness path after their cricket game.
