David Marsh, Stuart Austin and Scott Hickman caught up at the Profitable Farming with Carbon event in Cowra.
Earlier this month Mid Lachlan Landcare held a special event ‘Profitable Farming with Carbon’ in Cowra.
The afternoon was all about discussing the latest information on increasing soil carbon into farming systems.
Dr Susan Orgill a leading soil scientist with the NSW DPI based in Wagga Wagga gave a great presentation. She believes building soil carbon is essential in providing soil and plant fitness creating resilient farming systems. Dr Orgill’s current projects are focussed around management to increase soil carbon and the use of technologies to identify and measure sequestrian levels.
Stuart Austin, General Manager at Wilmont Cattle Co was another guest speaker at the event. Mr Austin has been involved with the recent Microsoft soil carbon credits sale and has a practical understanding of the process of storing and trading carbon on farm
Local producers Will Bennett, Sam Stranger and Megan Rowlands then shared their carbon stories and experiences so far which gave guests a good insight.
