Swimming Success

Canowindra Public School Senior Girls Relay team are off to State Ava Thornberry, Lucy Neville, Haylee Stanbury and Claire Pengilly.

Congratulations to Canowindra Public School student Ava Thornberry who made it to State after swimming at the Western Area Swimming Trials last week in Dubbo. Ava will now compete in the 11 Year 50m freestyle and the 11 Years 50m butterfly. Congratulations also to the Canowindra Public School Senior Girls Relay team consisting of Lucy Neville, Haylee Stanbury, Claire Pengilly and Ava Thornberry who came first at Western and also making it to State.

Last Thursday 20 students from Canowindra High School attended the Western Area Swimming Trials in Dubbo. Congratulations to Harry Duguid who finished 3rd in the 15yrs Boys 100m Breastroke. Harry will now represent the Western Area individually at the State Championships. The 15yrs girls relay team of Hannah Gordon, Hayley Stephens, Lillian Harrison, and Bella Gordon finished 2nd in a very quick time and will now advance to Sydney. The relay team of Noah Brown, Harry Duguid, Mitchell McMahon, and Mitchell Stephens also finished 2nd, booking a spot at Sydney Olympic Park. The 12 x 50m mixed relay team will also head to Sydney after coming 1st in the relay event.

Canowindra Swimming Club will hold their final night of the Championships this Friday with 3 events being swum. The 100m Individual Medley, 200m Individual medley and the 100m Freestyle.
