The 10 new Kindergarten Students at St Edward’s Primary School in Canowindra with teacher Mrs Roxanne Breen had a great start to their school journey last week.
Canowindra students were welcomed back into the classrooms for 2022 last week in a different yet covid-safe environment.
The school morning started very differently for each family in 2022 with rapid antigen tests being undertaken by students at home before heading off to school.
The NSW Government distributed around 8.6 million rapid antigen test kits to all schools and early childhood education centres so that educators are able to undertake surveillance testing for COVID-19 twice a week.
The use of rapid antigen test kits, vaccinations that are now available for the 5-11 year old age group, mask wearing, ventilation, good hand hygiene and social distancing will all play a key role in limiting the spread of the virus and keeping communities safe. Some schools are even splitting year groups for recess and lunch to ensure the virus does not spread.
The children at St Eddies, Canowindra Public School, Canowindra High School and Canowindra Pre-School all had a great start to the school year, and are all settling in well to their new classrooms and teachers.
“We’ve had a wonderful start with our 10 eager little learners! They are all engaged in our ‘Ready to Learn’ program, which explicitly teaches good listening skills, self-regulation and fine and gross motor skill development,” said Mrs Roxanne Breen, Kindergarten teacher at St Edward’s Primary School.
This week will see students partake in the annual swimming carnivals at school. Good luck to all the swimmers!
