Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier Sam Farraway and Minister for Regional Youth Bronnie Taylor presented the funding cheque to members of the Central West Gymnastics Club.
Local resident Julie Fliedner and her two daughters, Addison and Reaghan are passionate about their sport. The Fliedners have been involved in the Central West Gymnastics Club that is based in Orange, for the past five years and train twice a week. Julie is the Treasurer and Grants Officer and has been instrumental in the funding that has been awarded to the Club to upgrade the facilities including a brand-new Ninja Warrior course, construction of female changerooms and canteen upgrade that will help improve female participation rates in local sport. Julie has also brought Central West Gymnastics to Canowindra Public School, so the children in our area can have a taste of the sport.
The Club has been awarded $153,787 in funding, thanks to round four of the Stronger Country Communities Fund, with Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier Sam Farraway and Minister for Regional Youth Bronnie Taylor in attendance to make the announcement.
“The Central West Gymnastics club has a large membership and provides a range of programs from Kindergym to Gymnastics for adults and these upgrades will allow the club to provide more programs to a greater number of people,” Mr Farraway said.
“The new Ninja Warrior course will attract a whole new group of people to the club, from younger people to student groups and adults who are keen to try out their fitness and agility levels on the Ninja Warrior course.
“Courses like this are a fantastic way to bring regional communities together while providing a place for young people and adults alike to improve their fitness and connect with their peers in a fun and exciting way.”
The $500 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $2 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local projects or programs that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
