The Age Of Fishes Museum has been ranked within the top 10% of tourism destinations on TripAdvisor.
Canowindra’s Age Of Fishes Museum is a National Heritage site due to its international scientific significance as one of only two fish fossil museums in the world.
It contains 360-370 million-year-old fish fossils found in the area and has been visited by Sir David Attenborough.
The Museum has now been recognised again with a top consumer award, the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
It celebrates accommodation, attractions, and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor worldwide.
“The award is based on the opinions of everyday people who visit the Age of Fishes Museum. Given that the award is presented to businesses based on traveller reviews, it represents a consistency and quality of service that can not be faked,” said Cabonne Shire Council Communication and Marketing Coordinator, Emma Tadros.
“The team at Age of Fishes pride themselves on providing informative, genuine, and friendly service to visitors of the museum. The award reflects this service and is the truest feedback they can receive from their visitors.”
The museum has grown to accommodate over 10,000 visitors each year.
It also houses a Visitor Information Centre as well as a Science, Education and Research Hub, encouraging a broad audience through its doors each year.
“This award signifies the importance of tourism for areas like Canowindra and will continue to grow the interest in and knowledge of the museum not only in the Cabonne region, but further abroad as well,” Ms Tadros said.
