Small school with big achievement.
Cargo Public School is celebrating 150 years of public education at the small school later this month.
There will be games, activities, a cake stall, blacksmithing and a walk down the school’s history lane. The event will also feature the unveiling of a wonderful laser cut screen to recognise the momentous moment.
Relieving Principal Kellie Stone said it’s an honour to be leading the school as it celebrates 150 years of providing quality education for local families.
“Schools are a cornerstone of the community, and we have students whose families have attended the school for generations,” Ms Stone said.
“It’s exciting to be part of a community that can trace its heritage back to the gold rush era.”
Whilst being a small school, it has modern facilities, such as smartboards in every classroom.
The school’s P&C is hosting an open day on Sunday, August 29, from 10am – 2pm.
