Large household items can be put out for collection next month.
Bulky Waste Collections: Cabonne Council is providing a bulky waste clean-up next month. The collection will commence on Monday, August 9 and go through to Friday, August 20.
This will allow the collection of larger items and will enable items suitable for recycling to be diverted from landfill. Council asks all bulky waste be put out for collection the weekend before. The items are to be placed neatly next to the edge of the kerb, not blocking the footpath, at your normal weekly collection point.
Acceptable items for the clean-up include fridges, washing machines, wheelbarrows, barbeques, empty paint tins, mattresses, small appliances, floor coverings and batteries. Visit the council website for a full list of items.
Asbestos, fibro, insulation batts, cement bags, sawdust, tyres, paints, chemicals, cleaners and unwanted medicines are among items that will not be collected.

Naidoc Week Celebrations: Canowindra High School welcomes their school community to Term 3. What an exciting and busy Term they have ahead of them.
Teachers and students are celebrating NAIDOC Week this week. Unfortunately, due to the new COVID-19 restrictions, they have to postpone some of their much anticipated activities. However, they will still be celebrating with traditional First Nations sports activities.
Sports including chuboochuboo, dabi, edor, kangaroo, kolap, puloga and skiddle are some of the traditional First Nations activities that will be played.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students have been working hard alongside Suzannah, Charlie, Miss Di and Bonnie to complete the yarning circle which is still in the making due to setbacks from poor weather.
Year 12 will be undertaking their HSC trials in week 5 of this term. Staff wish all the students the best of luck with their studies and in the lead up to the exams.
Congratulations to all those who have already been accepted into Charles Sturt University with unconditional offers.
Good luck to those who are awaiting offers from other Universities, it is a nervous wait, but the wait will be worth it!
