Canowindra Library will be hosting a school holiday workshop in partnership with animation experts Toonworld. Discover the exciting world of stop-motion animation and experience the magic of film production with this fun workshop. This activity is recommended for children aged eight and over.
The vision of Toonworld is simple: to encourage, empower, educate and entertain students through interactive workshops that are both fun and creative. These workshops are designed to improve communication and literacy, while channelling creativity and imagination.
The programme aims to empower children to “draw to their hearts content and express themselves in any way they wish. This culture of freedom, acceptance and non-judgement provides an environment where children naturally feel safe in expressing themselves and often create things that have been suppressed by more traditional teaching methods.”
Toonworld supports Australian teachers in their STEM/STEAM programmes. It provides a solid foundation in stop motion animation to support future stem-based learning activities.
Canowindra Library is also part of One Library One Book Kids community read, with the library encouraging children to borrow a copy of How to Make a Movie in 12 Days by Fiona Hardy.
The book tells the story of Hayley Whelan, a suburban 11-year-old and amateur filmmaker who has all the ingredients of a great movie – a thrilling horror screenplay, a spooky set, high-quality props and a stellar actress.
