Better Roads On Way For Cabonne

8 April, 2021 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Cabonne Shire is set to benefit from a funding boost through the Fixing Local Roads program, courtesy of the Australian and NSW Governments.

Cabonne’s Borenore Road from Bradleys Road intersection to Akhurst Road will be upgraded at a cost of $1.42 million, making it smoother, safer and more reliable.

Federal Member for Calare and Minister for Decentralisation and Regional Education, the Hon Andrew Gee MP said safe, reliable roads are essential for our country communities.

“Borenore Road takes a lot of traffic, particularly during the Australian National Field Days, as it’s the main access to the site. These improvements include widening and straightening, which will make it much safer for locals and visitors alike. Cabonne Council will be doing the work and I know they’re very keen to get it cracking,” Mr Gee said.

“One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the turbo-charging of key investments in country roads. Not only will these projects help save lives, but they will give country communities a big economic shot in the arm by making possible roadworks that would have otherwise been sitting on council waiting lists.”

“I think all of our communities would agree that improving our local road networks is stimulus funding well spent,” Mr Gee added.

Round two of the Fixing Local Roads Program will fund more than 100 new road upgrades across NSW, creating more than 1,000 jobs.

The Australian Government is committed to helping councils to create and support jobs, drive productivity and keep our country communities connected.

Round two will see $150 million allocated to more than 100 road projects in 90 Local Government Areas.

All successful projects will be completed within two years to ensure local communities see the benefits as quickly as possible.
