Canowindra High School – Where We Have Been And Where We Are Going

25 February, 2021 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The CHS year 12 garden.

Welcome to Canowindra High School’s (CHS) monthly Phoenix column. Here is a snippet of what has been happening so far at CHS this term.

Year 12 Garden: CHS has been working on a designated area for the year 12 students due to COVID and having their studies disrupted. This area gives the year 12 students somewhere nice to go and relax. With still a few tweaks left, the first plaque will be in honour of 2020 year 12 class. The aim is to personalise the area to each year group.

Love Bites: External agencies will be delivering the Love Bites program to years 10, 11 and 12 on Tuesday. Love Bites is an extremely successful school-based Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault prevention program. Love Bites consistently models respectful relationships between male and female students, teachers and workers.

Batyr: Twelve year 10 students have been selected to participate in the chapters pro-gram through Batyr. Batyr is a for purpose preventative mental health organisation, created and driven by young people, for young people. The selected students will be working through four modules, learning new skills to own conversations around mental health in Canowindra High School.

UOW: Year 12 students attended the University of Wollongong last week to experience university through a range of transition and pathways activities.

Year 7: Tuesday, 23 February, there will be an afternoon tea for year 7. This is the first chance for parents, as a group, to be onsite outside since COVID. Year 7 are also off on their first high school excursion this week to Wyangala Dam.

Keep an eye out for next month’s column!
