No longer will the members of the Cudal and District Men’s Shed have to dodge the rain to access amenities at the nearby fire shed.
A $7,000 grant under the Australian Government’s National Shed Development Programme is providing them with their very own amenities block!
Federal Member for Calare and Minister for Decentralisation and Regional Education, Andrew Gee was there to congratulate the members of the men’s shed when he visited the site on Monday.
“This new amenities block will allow the shed to continue to grow and remain the much-loved hub of community service and fellowship that it’s become. The shed doesn’t have its own facilities at the moment. At present, the funding will cover virtually the whole project, including construction of the slab, the toilet connection to the sewer, the water connection, the stormwater drainage, new guttering and down pipes and a cement slab outside for a pathway to access it,” said Mr Gee.
President of the Cudal and Districts Men’s Shed, Robert Smith said the funding meant a lot to the members.
“We have 10-12 members and we’re always encouraging people to come along and enjoy the area,” said Mr Smith.
