Baroquefest Receives Funding Boost

2 July, 2020 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Richard Statham Chairman of Canowindra Fine Music Inc and Baroquefest.

Canowindra Fine Music Inc. is one of 29 event organisers across the state to benefit from funding through Destination NSW, Micro Event Fund grants program, aimed at attracting visitors and driving the local economy.

The Canowindra Fine Music Inc which hosts the annual Baroquefest will receive $10,000 under the Micro Event Fund Grants Program to assist in the delivery of the event for 2020 or 2021, should the event have to be cancelled due to the current travel restrictions and Public Health Orders.

Nationals Upper House MP, Sam Farraway said the support for these local events would be critical to reawakening the local tourism industry following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is fantastic news for small businesses across the region — events bring in visitors who stay locally and spend locally, and are important to the social and cultural fabric of the area,” Mr Farraway said.

“Everyone is feeling the pinch in the current climate and hopefully Canowindra Baroquefest can go ahead this year and this extra boost will take pressure off sponsors and assist in making the event a smash hit with locals and visitors alike for another year!”

“The committee will determine how the grant funds will be used but It could be inter alia, to cover, or part-cover artists / ensemble’s performance fees, travel, accommodation, marketing, promotion and advertising for our next Baroquefest which is scheduled for 18-20 September 2020, but due to Covid-19 hasn’t yet been confirmed,” said Richard Statham, Chairman Canowindra Fine Music Inc / Baroquefest.
