The staff at St Edward’s Primary School Canowindra are excited about welcoming students back to school on Monday, 11th May!
On Monday May 11th children who attend St Edward’s Primary School in Canowindra are invited to return to school full time for face to face teaching.
The School has put in place extra guidelines for all students, parents and staff to follow, to ensure everyone is kept as safe as possible. Some of these extra guidelines include: No morning assemblies, hand sanitiser stations, no water bubbler, separated lunch areas for year groups, no canteen available and the additional cleaning of the school during the day.
“This has been an important decision to make, one that is supported by our Director of Bathurst Diocesan Schools, Mrs Christina Trimble, our Parish Priest, Fr Laurie Beath and all members of our St Eddie’s staff,” said Principal Mr Ken McNamara.
“We are very aware that each family has their own concerns and thoughts regarding a return to school; however, we believe in the best interests of all students and families we see a return to face to face learning as an important one,” continued Mr McNamara.
Regional Education Minister Andrew Gee declared there was no reason schools in remote and regional communities could not safely reopen – while adhering to expert medical advice and social distancing rules – so that vulnerable students were not left behind.
“With country parts of Australia generally having fewer confirmed cases of COVID-19, schools in these areas should be the first to reopen,” Mr Gee said.
