The Age of Fishes Museum in Canowindra is now home to a series of new interactive metal spinners with thanks to Newcrest Cadia Valley and Lawrence’s IGA.
In May 2019, Cadia provided $14,000 to the Age of Fishes Museum and Lawrence’s IGA provided $4,000 to go towards an interactive, educational timeline of the history of life on earth.
The 11 metal spinners, that were manufactured by Midpro Engineering in Forbes each represent a different period of time.
“This donation is made through Cadia’s Community Partnership Program which aims to support both educational and tourism initiatives in the local community,” said Cadia Acting General Manager, Aaron Brannigan.
Mr Brannigan went on to say “Cadia’s Community Partnership Program provides approximately $500,000 in funding each year and has provided more than $8 million to local programs since Cadia commenced operation in 1998.”
“The support over the years from Newcrest Cadia Valley has been instrumental in advancing the museum,” said Anne Clark Manager of The Age of Fishes Museum.
“The donations over the years have helped to purchase solar panels and it also allowed the museum to be extended,” said Mrs Clark.
Alison Farrar, Community Relations Officer from Cadia Valley Operations was at the Museum last Friday to inspect the new interactive metal spinners and enjoy a tour of the museum with Anne.
