Our Bloke – Mark Ward

5 March, 2020 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

How long have you lived in or around Canowindra and what do you like about living here? I have lived here for 53 years. I love farming, family and friendships.

Where do you work and what do you en- joy most about your work? I work on my own farm and have now semi-retired. I love solving the problems and dealing with the challenges of day to day farming. I have two employees who make all this possible.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I like reading, having coffee with friends, watching sport on television and making jams, pickles and relish from my own produce in my vegie garden.

What are you really good at? Listening to people and helping solve problems.

What is your pet hate? Coriander and chilli!

If you could have a super power what would it be and why? I would like to have the ability to bring peace to the world to enable people to live their lives in freedom and security.

Tell us about your best holiday ever? Beach holidays with my family when they were young at Collaroy. Lots of friends and family would come and stay or visit for the day.

What makes your day? Standing on my verandah and looking out over my garden and farm with my wife.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? At the age of 15 I hitchhiked on my own around Ireland. There were very few cars in Ireland then so it was mostly by horse and cart.
