Community Bank Update – We’ve Reached Over $200,000!

28 March, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra District Community Bank has reached a total of $204,000 in pledges to date. That’s an increase of $21,400 since our update last week! Please keep those pledges coming.

Please download this Pledge Form and complete return it to either the Phoenix office or to Bill Paul’s Carpet Store.

Pledge NOW

The committee is the midst of a concentrated effort over the next 5 weeks to secure more pledges. The initiative’s first stand in front of the butcher last Saturday 22nd March raised much needed awareness.

Remember that Canowindra needs a bank on a full time basis! Our Community Bank branch will provide Canowindra with more than just banking services. It will deliver employment opportunities, keep local capital just that – local, and provide monetary support for important community projects and organisations – as determined by our community.

You’ll be interested to know – “The Community Bank® story first started in 1998 when Bendigo Bank partnered with the Victorian communities, Rupanyup and Minyip, to establish a banking pilot to return banking services to the towns. It succeeded, and since the twin branches inception a decade ago, more than $700,000 in profits has been channelled back into community projects.” You can read more about this at the Bendigo Bank website.

If you have any questions you can always call Cheryl, James, Ray or Bill – the committee members listed on the Pledge Form.

Again, please keep those pledges coming!
