Canowindra Junior Cricket

12 December, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last Saturday saw the Stage 3 Canowindra Services Club boys take on the Cowra Renegades at Tom Clyburn Oval.

It was a great day of cricket from both sides. Cowra batted first putting 116 on the board. This was a great bowling and fielding effort to restrict the score, previously they have scored 160 plus in the other 2 games we have played.

A brilliant diving catch by Hayden was as good as you will ever see. The fielders backed their bowlers up and the bowling plans were executed perfectly and the wickets tumbled.

Next it was CSC to bat – 116 the chase, our best effort before this was 82.

The opening stand from Bailey and Toby saw their best bowlers and set the run chase up. Ethan, Ryley, Colby and the devastating Hugh Breen pushed the soring along nicely.

This was backed by the other batsman and as the 30 overs were completed they has scored 156 runs, WINNING their first game!

Simply outstanding against a team that have two players that play Men’s A Grade cricket.

Player of the week was Hayden Whatman with 2 catches, brilliant fielding, 4 wickets and some nice batting.

Everyone in the team contributed to the win and it was great to see the smiles at the end of the match. Well done Canowindra Services Club.
